Senior Development Project Manager, Aspire Development Management

As the Senior Development Project Manager, Peter was charged with delivery of the 150,000 sq ft refurbished city centre John Lewis department store acting, on behalf of BlackRock. The scheme involved transforming the existing multi-tenant shopping centre into a single Department Store.

Development Manager, Margate Town Centre Regeneration Company

Responsible for managing the design and planning application of the Dreamland site in Margate aimed at regenerating the 7.8 hectare site including the refurbishment of a grade II* listed cinema complex and rollercoaster, construction of a new public park/pleasure gardens and high quality residential development. Key roles included management of successful first stage applications for major public grants. Appointing the design team, managing production of the masterplan, producing the scheme design and business plan. In addition responsible for assembling and managing the team defending a CPO and standing as a lead witness at the inquiry. Responsible for the CPO process through inquiry, High Court challenge and at the Court of Appeal.

Bid Manager, Project Manager, Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd

A mixed use retail led development in Exeter City Centre. The scheme involved large scale demolition, protection of important Listed structures, 530,000 sq ft of new retail space, anchored by Debenhams, 122 residential units and 510 parking spaces. Peter was responsible for the bid management, value engineering, design management and acted as the lead-in project manager.

Project Manager for the Selfridges flagship store responsible for the detailed design development, procurement, client and end user liaison. The project was handed over ahead of programme and within budget having achieved the exacting quality standards specified by this anchor tenant.

Beechwood Shopping Centre, BlackRock

On behalf of Blackrock, the US investment manager, Hamish acted as Senior Development Manager of the major retail scheme in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire encompassing an 150,000 sq. ft. John Lewis Department store and multiple other uses.

Victoria Gate, Leeds, Hammerson

Lead development consultant on 1m sq. ft. retail City Centre scheme for Hammerson encompassing largest JLP store in northern England. Key roles included development management, development feasibility, land acquisition negotiations/CPO, anchor store negotiations, and stakeholder engagement over a 9-year period.

Westfield Stratford City, London, LCR/Stanhope and Chelsfield

Acted in early inception of Europe’s largest urban shopping centres on behalf of LCR/Stanhope and Chelsfield. Key roles included development conception, development feasibility and early discussions with anchor stores and local authority linking with the design teams, planning, leasing and delivery.

Watermark WestQuay Extension, Southampton, Hammerson

Led the land agreement between Hammerson and local authority to enable extension to largest regional scheme in the south of England.

Westgate, Oxford, Intu Properties

Advisor to Intu Properties on the extension, with proposals for the JLP store and accompanying retail. The role included early stage development feasibility, discussions with the anchor and Council negotiations prior to the sale to Land Securities and Crown Estate.

Merry Hill, Westfield/QIC, Westfield Shopping Towns

Strategic advisor to Westfield Shopping Towns on extension to existing regional scheme, incorporating department store and cinema proposals. Roles included development consultancy, leasing strategy and anchor store discussions.

Orchard Centre, Didcot, Hammerson UK

Delivered early pre-planning concept on behalf of landlord providing advice on feasibility and key financial hurdles for the scheme, whilst also negotiating the development agreement on behalf of Hammerson, compulsory purchase and anchor store negotiations.

Development Director providing development leadership and project delivery on a repositioning and feasibility exercise for a major mixed use commercial centre in Warsaw, Poland for MGPA (Macquarie Goodman Group) an independently managed private equity real estate investment advisory company focused on real estate investment in Europe and Asia. This comprised detailed research, design, cost and financial modelling assembled on various options to determine the fund strategy on investment for the 230m Euro, 110,000m2 retail, offices, residential and leisure development.
